9680: Slurry Analyser
Model 9680 offers real-time information about multiple parameters of liquids or slurries. Only one sensor can measure the dissolved solids (TDS), suspended solids (TSS) and density at the same time by reflection technology. Additionally, the sensor can withstand rough conditions of chemicals and mineral slurries thanks to the corrosion and abrasion resistant sensor materials.
In the process, model 9680 can be installed in a tank or in a pipe with a small diameter. For bigger pipe diameters it is required to use a different analyser, model 9670. This analyser has two sensors for transmissive measurement offering the same measurement parameters.

Particles are absorbing ultrasonic energy. Model 9680 measures the loss of energy over a particular distance. Those losses are a value for the amount of solids, expressed in weight percent (wt%) or gram per liter (g/l).
- Acoustic impedance (density)
The acoustic impedance is the reflection of energy at the interface between the sensor and slurry or liquid.
- Sound velocity (concentration)
The sound velocity is determined by measuring the time that the ultrasonic signal is traveling over a known distance. This particular distance is from the UDP diver sensor to the reflector and back.
- Pt100 sensor (temperature)
The temperature is measured by a Pt100 probe to compensate for temperature influences.
Multiple installation methods are available for the Model 9680. The final choice depends on the desired place of installation in the process.
Tank installation is done through an UDP diver sensor or UHP insertion probe. The diver probe can be used for immersion or can be mounted on top of a tank or in an open channel. For side-mounted installation an UHP probe will be used.
Pipe installation is done through a metal pipe piece (UFTC spool) or with a PEEK wafer (UFTW). Both methods use one sensor that measures the sound velocity after reflection at the pipe wall. For pipes with a bigger diameter, Model 9670 is preferred. This configuration has the same pipe installation methods, but employs two sensors instead of one and is not suitable for tanks.
